Making it so we can live there…
So here we are, able to live in the barn! This room was formerly an office when the barn was a barn (20 years ago), then it was the previous owner’s living quarters. Now, we have fixed it up to be our temporary bedroom while we fix up the loft during the summer. ‘Fixing’ consisted of removing the old (icky) counters, stove and fridge that were in there; cleaning the walls (I could write in them with the dirt that was on them); painting the ceiling and walls; and laying the laminate that was left over from a previous job. The laminate was a nightmare because the floor was not even close to being level and the flooring had expanded with the humidity, making it not fit together properly. So all in all it looks pretty good, not our best work for sure, but the main goal was completed: we can live there! Hurray!
Also found out that the chimney for the stove that is in there is leaking…nice puddle on our new floor. Grr. Add it to the list…
